3:30 – 5pm Water Bodies: Critical Swimming session on the beach in front of Bubble Café.
Critical Swimming is a performative and discursive practice of exploring the body in water as a site of knowledge production. It draws from the questions posed by peripatetic philosophy, adapted to what Neimanis calls “the gestational logic” of water. Participants are called to engage different registers of discourse, explore embodied thought from a state of immersion, and share discoveries and reflections. Critical Swimming combines a sense of urgency with a sense of ‘being at sea’. Led by Zoe Czavda Redo as part of WaterBodies’ School of Evolution.
There will be swimming, diving, floating, wading, writing, and reflecting. Bring swimming gear or a change of clothes and shoes, water and a notebook. Sun protection is advised. Aged 16+ Full immersion in the water is not necessary to participate.
