Artist Laura Wilson is interested in history, architecture and process. Her new work for Whitstable Biennale 2014, Black Top, investigates the workings of Whitstable’s aggregate factory, owned by Brett. Set against the backdrop of the factory, Wilson talks about the making of Black Top, and more widely about the nature of building materials, their use in industry, and how they feature in her artworks.
