Ania Bas

Through her practice Ania Bas creates situations that support dialogue and exchange and question existing frameworks of participation. She is interested in the ways that narratives shape understanding, mythology and knowledge of places and people. Her work is presented through text, events, walks, performances, useful object and publications.

Bas is a co-founder of The Walking Reading Group, a project that facilitates knowledge exchange in an intimate and dynamic way through discussing texts whilst walking together. In this reading group, the table is broken up by the street and the dominant voice is replaced with the sound of conversation partners talking simultaneously. Anyone can participate and the walks are free to attend.

As part of the Walking Reading Group, Ania organised Ash Walk #2 for Whitstable Biennale in Summer 2018, and subsequently led A New Career In A New Town with Sally O’Reilly and Kit Caless in autumn 2018.
