Katrin Albrecht works in installation, sculpture and drawing, often using fabric and performative elements. Her work is visually bold and colourful and has usually a subversive layer of meaning to it.

Born in southern Germany in the late 70’s, she is now living and working by the sea in Folkestone with her family. Before committing herself to art, she trained to become a professional tailor which still influences her work now, translating into big banner flags for the public realm or wall hangings.

She studied Fine art/sculpture across Europe including Berlin, Paris, Frankfurt and London, holding two MFA’s from Weissensee art school, Berlin and Goldsmiths College, London.

Her work has been exhibited internationally as far as the Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park in Michigan, USA. She has received several grants and awards including the Deutsche Bank Art Award for Fine Art and the Chelsea Arts Club Award. She was co-founder of a London based feminist collective and runs inspirational art workshops for adults and children.
