Emma Bennett is a performance artist and writer working across media. Her performances have been shown in venues across the UK, including Arnolfini, Bristol; The Basement and Nightingale Theatre, Brighton; Traverse Theatre, Edinburgh; and The Gate Theatre and Wigmore Hall in London. Occupying a territory in between sound poetry, stand-up comedy, composition and visual art, her practice is a restless investigation of how language shapes – and distorts – our understanding of the world. She was a member of performance group These Horses until they disbanded in 2008, and her work continues in a collaborative mode, be it in dialogue with other artists, animals or the active agency of technology.
