Hollow moon is a new video installation. In a video combining footage of a dancer silently interpreting Gidley’s sculptures through the medium of movement, shots of a familiar if anonymous Whitstable building, and voiceover, a female protagonist tells a story of confused identities and psychological manipulation. The ‘Hollow moon’ of the title refers to the conspiracy theory that claims the moon is hollow, with variations including the story that there are ancient astronauts controlling life from within it.
