Laura Wilson, Brick Project Lecture, 2012

Laura Wilson
Brick project lecture

Sunday 2 September 2012
15:00—15:45

Whitstable Library & Library Lecture Hall

Laura Wilson presented an overview of Brick project; for which she spent several years researching and exploring bricks, a material she frequently used in her work. The lecture explored how bricks function materially and their relationship to the human body in terms of scale and historical context. Wilson taught herself to brick-lay while constructing a site specific structure with 17th Century bricks on an archaeological site, and has travelled to China, Peru, the Netherlands and Belgium to investigate the history of bricks ad their architectural deployment across cultures and histories.
